Examples of different settings are included in the thinstation.conf.example file (also available with your custom-built downloads via TS-O-Matic). > > I have read the FAQ but I didn't find any guidelines about how to set up > Thinstation so it works in the manner described above, only > Linux-oriented instructions, etc. Is this all something I have to do > with build.conf?? The FAQ covers both Linux & Windows, but there are howto's on Windows ONLY environmnets and on hard-disk & CF card installs. > > <QUESTION> > 2. You can use TS-O-Matic to build a custom version if you want. If you want to play in that area, I used to use an old PI with 128Mb Ram as my build, dhcp & tftp server box (no gui). > > PXE/network setup etc. is not practical, we don't have enough WAN > bandwidth. Hard drive or CD installation is best. Howto's available for both harddisk & cf card install (read both as they cover ith topic slightly differently). Reread the FAQ, you might find some things in there (specifically the thinstation.conf<whatever> file specifications usefull). > > I won't struggle yet with local printers (HP Deskjets mainly) or > network/video drivers, smile!! Nic's shouldn't be a problem, but it is advisable to slim down the number of video drivers you select as X tries them all to work out the appropriate one to use. > > Off-list replies are welcome. On-list replies are more welcome, as it can give guidance to others who may have the same questions (especially if they search the mailing-list archives) Good Luck Trevor B > > Thank you, > Tom > > Tom Lyczko > Computer & Information Systems Coordinator > Essex ARC > tl...@es... > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide > Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users. > Discover which products truly live up to the hype.
