you might want to try and contact =20 Richard Dolinsky [r.d...@ff...] =20 he was working on something similar. -----Original Message----- From: Ome...@in... Subject: RE: [Thinstation-general] Advice needed for printer config Hi, =20 I know that if I configure the lp_server package in the build.conf, the local printers are shared on port 9100. I setup the printer connected to tsHP by a windows xp by following the FAQ and it works fine. =20 But I am trying to setup the shared printer automatically for all thinstations in the enviroment and I want use PRINTER_3 for this. Then I will use them in the rdesktop printer redirection. From your mail I understand that I cannot acccess a remote printer from a thinstation. Is this correct? =20 If it is correct I have to share the printer on port 9100, then I have to add this printer for each of the users, and I have to use roaming profile because I will use several TS in a load-balanced enviroment. Now I do not use roaming profile. If I cannot solve it on the thinstation side, I have= to enable roaming profile support which I do not want to do :-( =20 Thank you very much. =20 Best Regards, =20 Omer Uyar _____ =20 From: Miles Roper [mailto:mr...@we...]=20 Sent: Wednesday, July 14, 2004 12:12 PM To: =D6mer Uyar - Genel M=FCd=FCrl=FCk Operasyonlar=FD Grubu (Bilgi= Teknolojileri - AR-GE Yetkilisi); thi...@li... Subject: RE: [Thinstation-general] Advice needed for printer config Hi, =20 Followed you up until you got to the printer_3? Why do you need to do= this? =20 Btw, just spotted a typo in the .conf example file, =20 PRINTER_0_TYPE N for network, =20 you can't use N for network as its unsupported. LPRng supports this, but its a lot bigger so I haven't included it. The N for network option is actually to connect to another machine with a printer. What your asking is to share a locally attached printer, so the PRINTER_0 config should be correct. =20 If that doesn't work, then try a=20 =20 nmap tsHP =20 is there a port 9100 enabled. If so, you can actually telnet to this port, ie =20 telnet tsHP 9100 =20 then if you type things they should actually come out on the printer. =20 let me know how you get on. =20 Cheers =20 Miles =20 =20 -----Original Message----- From: Ome...@in... Subject: [Thinstation-general] Advice needed for printer config Hello everybody, =20 I am trying to settle the printer configs for my infrastructure. I have a= HQ Office and remote offices over the WAN. I have one DHCP&TFTP server per a branch. I boot my thinstations over these servers. And My Terminal Servers are located in HQ Office. =20 =20 In every remote branch I have the same printer infrastructer. In every office I have a LaserJet connected to a thinstation.=20 =20 I give the name tsHP to the thinstation which has HP LaserJet. =20 I have to use HP LaserJet from Terminal Servers with printer redirection= for every thinstations. ( I have the rdesktop package compiled by Richard dolinsky) In order to have this functionality I think I have to configure this HP LaserJet via on the tsHP and share it with lp_server package, and then I have to configure this printer as a network printer in the thinstation.conf.network file in order to access this printer from every thinstation. =20 everything seems ok. but I cannot write the correct configure parameters. I have tried the following for the thinstation.conf-tsHP =20 PRINTER_0_NAME=3DHP PRINTER_0_DEVICE=3D/dev/printers/0 PRINTER_0_TYPE=3DP =20 I think I have to write following lines to my thinstation.conf.network file but I don't know what to write for PRINTER_3_DEVICE PRTINTER_3_NAME=3DHPLaserJet PRINTER_3_DEVICE=3D??????
