(in a Window) "Error: Unable to open database".
Simultaneously in the console some other messages
appear e.g.
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /home/emmanuel/user.xml
(No such file or directory).
The console messages:

Hmmm... Have you looked in that location to see if there IS
a file? The user.xml file (I believe) contains the pointers
to all your weblog directories.
If it is there or not, I would guess that it might be a user
permissino issue, as I believe that Thingamablog creates
that file if it is not there...
My vote would be that either the path is messed up OR
permissions are insufficient to create the file(s) that tb
needs.
Hope that helps!

I had the same problem for running thingamablog.
Here is my solution : write a script containing this :
-----------------------------8<-------------------------------------------
#!/bin/sh
cd /opt/admin/sources/thingamablog
java -jar thingamablog.jar
-----------------------------8<-------------------------------------------
and run this script to run thingamablog. It should work from
anywhere in your file system, thanks to the "cd" line.

I found a solution :
just copy "user.xml" from "thingamablog/templates" to /home/emmanuel/
user.xml
The idea is to copy and existing user.xml file where thingamablog expects
it...
relaunch and it's ok !
