Text2Speech Vista Stable and New Developer

The Text2Speech project has suddenly got busy again!

Firstly i would like to welcome a new developer to the Text2Speech team, Jonny Woods (jonny20330), who will be helping to roll out all the new features you have contacted me with.

Secondly thanks to the help of Jonny and some others, Text2Speech has been tested on Windows Vista Home Basic and Ultimate, with very few (if any) problems. So all you people with shiny new Vista computers can have a go with Text2Speech.... read more

Text2Speech is back!

After a bit of an unofficail break from developing Text2Speech i am back and ready to get going again. I have spent most of my time recently developing my Blogging Engine, Blinkwalla, on my shiny new Ubuntu 7.04 Server/PHP Dev machine and have totally neglected Text2Speech.

But now i am back and have updated the CVS repository with all the 1.2.1.0 Code and will start developing more features for Text2Speech. I am slo singlehandedly writing a Documentation wiki which is probably going to take some time.... read more

Text2Speech Wiki Project

As part of our drive to add new and better features into Text2Speech, I have started an online help, documentation and information repository in the form of a Wiki (The same format as Wikipedia). We currently need anyone and everyone that can help in any way to contribute information to the Wiki, which is placed at http://text2speech.sourceforge.net/help/ or http://text2speech.sourcefprge.net/wiki/. We aim to have the wiki filled with as much data as possible for the release of Version 1.5 of Text2Speech. It will also be integrated as a large part (or maybe even replacing) of the text2speech.sourceforge website.

1.2.1.0 News

The developers of Text2Speech have decided that 1.2.1.0 will be the last Stable update for a while as we are focusing on adding a large amount of updates to Version 1.5.0.0, including Automatic update notification, internal speech voice selection, (**Hopefully**) multiple language support and a brand new updates system. There may be another stable version (Version 1.3.0.0?) if we feel that it is stable enough, but we are not certain on that one.... read more

Sorry for the wait everybody, but version 1.2.1.0 is not far off. It should be released within the next few days. Just the documentation, installer and the finishing touches to the new options system have to be done. Sorry again for the delay.

Icon Credits Patch

I have released a patch to fix a problem with crediting the wonderful work of Mark James, who designed the Icon Set that Text2Speech uses in its toolbars. Applying this patch will add a text file which credits Mark James in the way set out by the Icon License Agreement.

This is being released as a patch as i respect Mark James and his work and we dont want to break any license agreements. I also want other developers to use these icons as they are brilliant! I didnt want to wait until the next release (which could be several weeks away) to fix this problem.... read more

More Development Updates

I have finished loading al the project sourcecode/other project files into the CVS repository, so you dont have to waste time downloading the tarball to steal my code ;).
The CVS repository will be updated everytime a new version of the application is released, not every time i make changes to the files (as i would spend more time uploading them, then i would programming). Also the CVS uplaoded files have some of the new coede for the next release in them and it may not be stable/work properly so you know, be careful.... read more

And thanks to the forums for helping me find some new bugs with the DLL Checking feature, which i am about to go and fix right after i have made up the new source tarball and submitted those new bugs.... read more

Text2Speech 1.2 Released

Finally, after some waiting for you guys, we have released version 1.2.0.0 of Text2Speech. Unfortunately we missed the first release date, but we got it out on the second date, (Which is quite good for us part time devs). Also i accidentally leaked it on Wednesday night as i uploaded it early as it was finished and didnt want to lose it on my hard drive (At one point in the last month i lost all the builds, the installer exe and the installer scripts). But it is out now and it works.... read more

Text2Speech; 3000 Downloads!

This has got to be the busiest week for Ilexis Software so far. We have officially started developing Version 1.2 of Text2Speech, started work on and released a basic alpha version of our password generation program Debaser (http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/text2speech) and now Text2Speech has got to a milestone 3,000 downloads, so it looks like some people are actually using this software.

In other news unfortunately we are having to postpone the release of Version 1.2 due to some problems in development process and being so busy with Debaser. We cannot give you a precise release date at this point but we think it will be closer to the 26th of February

Version 1.0c Released

The third (and hopefully final) version of Text2Speech 1.0 has been released, just one day after 1.0b was released. There has been no update to the actual Text2Speech codebase, but 1.0c includes a new installer which removes the need to manually install the program, liek in 1.0b.

Version 1.0b Released

After finding out that all 4 of the previous Text2Speech releases including what i thought was a stable 1.0 version had a broken installer i went to try and fix the installer problem with no luck. But i am releasing a 1.0b version which is a straight from hard drive exe. Aswell as it working it also has a tiny bug fix.

Version 1.0 released

After a few months of developments i have released the first proper version of Text 2 Speech. I have plans for Version 1.1 and im already beginning to implement some of those features. I hope to have a new beta version out in a few weeks with at least one new (probably very buggy) feature.
