I would love to see this feature too. I like git so much more than svn.
Here: http://der.it-bayer.de/texstudio-und-git/ is an instruction how to work it ot, but it doesn't seem to work in the current version of texstudio.

The possibility of making texstudio work with git will be really helpful. I also support it.

Git is much more popular than svn or mercurial these days. So I think for an wonderful \LaTex editor like Texstudio, this feature seems like a must.

Marcel posted this workaround in a duplicate thread:

(Reposted here to have all information of the subject in one place.)

I've opened a discussion thread on the details of a possible git support:

You may comment there which features you consider essential or nice-to-have addons.

    from [feature-requests:#879]:

A git integration would be very nice. Here are some suggested capabilities:
    - pull/push
    - stash
    - diff
    - merge
    - tag
    - branch

It would be very helpful already having TeXstudio recognizing git triggered changes to the file system.

Currently, every time I checkout a different the branch TeXstudio pops up very annoying and missleading dialogs that the file on the file system has been changed. This is also dangerous, since it can happen quite easy that changes get stored in the wrong branch accidentially, when clicking on the wrong dialog response button.
