Texstudio has two (related, I am sure) problems with KDE (I use KDE4).

  1. It is impossible to establish specific window/application behavior for Texstudio. KDE does not recognize Texstudio windows correctly and the specific rules do not work. Moreover, if you try to establish rules again you get the clear menu, as if you have not yet established rules. If you look into the KDE list of saved rules you will see several instances for 'Specific behavior for Texstudio' (as many as you have attempted to make them).
  2. After some time of working you discover that Texstudio completely grabbed the focus. If you launch other applications they appear behind the Texstudio windows, and you need to press the Taskbar button to raise the to the foreground. The same happens if you restore an application window from the System Tray (krusader, thunderbird with systray add-on, dropbox, skype etc.). Texstudio turns out stronger and keeps them in the background. To cure I quit Texstudio and launch it again. It helps for some (indefinite) time.

Sorry, it is not a feature request, it is a bug. I will resend it as a bug in a minute.

We use Qt4/Qt5 for handling all that stuff.
If KDE/Qt don't get along, we won't establish a specific code path for KDE (win32,linux and osx is quite sufficient)
If you hand-in patches, we can talk about them, but I will not investigate (especially as KDE4 is already deprecated)
