Ubuntu 16.04,
TeXstudio 2.10.8 (hg 5802:5ee1d048e556)
Using Qt Version 5.5.1, compiled with Qt 5.5.1 R
latex oldtimer, linux longtimer, TexStudio newbie
Unmodified configuration looks correct to me :
CTL-F works, CTL-R (one of my all-time favorite keystrokes, especially when RE-supportive, which I will play with soon enough, since I am Perlish) doesn't.
I take support in most dialects except Youtube, and if I find myself in console vi one more time I will sudo apt-get vim. Actually, I just did.

This is a known bug of Qt5 + Unity: https://sourceforge.net/p/texstudio/bugs/1853/
We currently recommend to use the Qt4 builds of TeXstudio for Ubuntu.
