Can I use Ctrl + Shift + M for setting the "new" math mode?

    Is it possible to configure the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + M to set the "better" math mode, as in

    \(x\)
    

    ? I got accustomed to the a) highlight mechanisms of the editor and b) the less obscure error messages. If you like, you can read more about it here.

    You can. Create a user macro Macros -> Edit Macros

    Type: Normal
    Contents: \(%|\) - the %| marks the cursor position.

    Then reassign the shortuct at Options -> Configure... -> Shortcuts
