TexStudio crashes when opening my document in the internal pdf viewer (no problem with the actual compile).

Which version of TXS are you using? Is it possible that you post the PDF here?
not reproducible without further information

I can reproduce the error.
When I use the springer journal template (http://static.springer.com/sgw/documents/468198/application/zip/LaTeX.zip)
The error occurs as soon as I try to include a picture in pdf format.
It warns me to close TXS or otherwise data could be lost.
However, the same picture, converted to eps, is fine.
I'm running Win 7 Professional 64 bit and TeXStudio 2.7.0
Here is a recent snapshot compiled with qt5. Can you try if it works correctly with this version?
http://sourceforge.net/projects/texstudio/files/texstudio/TeXstudio%20SVN/texstudio271_snapshot_2014-05-11_win_qt5.exe/download
It fixed the old problem, but therefore a new one occured:
I can't type any symbols related to the alt-key: []{}~
I'm using a german keyboard.
fixed: hg 4468 (102470e545f0)
Yes, compiles without error message.
Thank you very much :-)
I have this issue too, I assume the fix will be in the next version? :-)
That's the plan :)
Great! :-)
