I can confirm this. It appears with soft line wrap at max. characters.
Apparently the text is then horizontally centered insstead of left adjusted.
Any idea who played around with that part of the program ?

@Tim: I find the centering confusing as well, so I reverted the default to not use centering.
Furthermore the checkbox for centering should be close/next to linewrap as it interacts.
I would rather propose to put it into the dropdown box like softwrap/softwrap after max. charatcers/softwrap max character (centered)/... because otherwise this unexpected behaviour will raise eyebrows ...

This was introduced with 6513, 6515, 6540 to improve usability on large screens.

I agree with Jan to move the option around of the wrapping option dropbox.
