works just fine here (qt4 & qt5, ubuntu).
Maybe a explicit qmake/make clean helps.

  qmake make clean sh BUILD.sh
  
  but same trouble with qt4.
  
  BTW, no troubles with qt5 (even without an explicit qmake).

  I'm not sure I can rely on QT5 because, IIRC, there were troubles with the version provided with Mageia 5:

Also happens with Qt5. But only with the Classic color scheme.

Probably the problem is that the widget is the menus parent but the menu is not added to the layout of the widget. In that case it will just render at the top left without considering the layout.
