Dear Jan,
With regard to #1898, it still freezes. This happens even when typing "\texorpdfstring" halfway.

Using this version on Windows 10.
TeXstudio 2.11.2 (hg 6192:72f68414a729)
Using Qt Version 5.6.1, compiled with Qt 5.6.1 R

I installed texstudio-qt4_2.11.2_amd64.deb in Linux Mint 17.3 and have experienced the same freeze after typing:

\section{\texorpdfstring

The freeze also prohibits my file containing \texorpdfstring from loading.

Using Qt Version 4.8.6, compiled with Qt 4.8.6 R

That's because the fix was after the 2.11.2 release.
