Hey I would like to confirm this bug.
Texstudio crashes when opening a file. Master and normal documents.
Opening e.g. the configuration works.
Linux Mint 17.2 (rafaela)
Installing the .deb package for xUbuntu 14.04 (the others didn't work)
Here comes my terminal output. The tracebacks contain the same informations:
Why is there no deb package of the old version on sourceforge. Could someone upload it, so that one go back to the old version?
which version of txs are you using ?
Please attach /tmp/texstudio_backtrace2.txt
Can you provide the file that causes the crasg (or a reduced version of it which crashes txs)
You may also send it it to me by mail if you want not to publicize it.

Hi,
the problem occurse with the new version. The old one 2.9.x worked fine (can't remember x). Since 2.10.2 (installed today) I can't open any file.
The problem occurs with any file. Opening via thunar or opening via menu->file->opening. txs (texstudio?) crashes directly.
Creating a new file works first, but only until one tries to enter something. Means blank page (ok). Clicking with cursor into the blank page (ok). Pressing a key (fail).
When it crashes on can see some windows opening up. But they are empty and it vanishes quickly (see attached vid).
Opening a file works analog.
Could someone upload an old deb of 2.9.x into sourceforge. I am willing to help but currently I am writing on my Bachelor and I need texstudio(!).
/tmp/texstudio_backtrace2.txt got overwritten but it contained the excatly string that was in the terminal output, so :
Old Versions can be found here: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:jsundermeyer
You could try to install texstudio-hg-qt4 which is the most recent version but built against qt4.
Apart from that are you sure that all dependencies are met ?
Your crash awfully looks like missing libraries ...

? The webpage confuses me a little bit :)
Just want to inform you that I might have to install developing packages/ packages to build qt. They are not installed yet. Maybe the dependency problem is influenced by that.

hey,
it was easier than I thought, but it didn't help :(
1st: I tried all version backwards and the last one working ist 2.9.4. 2.10.0 is the first one not running
2nd: installing the build dependencies didn't help
3rd: build of the linked snapshot worked except of signing and some problems with lintian, eg:

but they were not fatal.
To my surprise the compilation used qt4 instead of qt5 (qt4 and qt5 are installed).
After all the build version shows the same problem. :( No improvement.
I went back to 2.9.4
further ideas?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
1) it is a bad idea to comment a closed bug report.
2) I don't debug problems on arch linux any more as 100% of the problems turned out to be arch linux specific.
3) main difference between 2.9.4 and 2.10.4 is that our build uses qt5 instead of qt4, you could look into that

so texstudio starts fine, but when you click something, it crashes ?
Have you used txs 2.9.4 ?
Can you send the backtrace from the crash ?

The traceback below is from opening a blank file, so it is a bit different.
Speicherzugriffsfehler = Segmentation fault in German.

I had the same idea (missing dependencies). But the package manager didn't complain about anything. So I would assume that it should work...
Is it correct that I will try to install this one:

the correct link is http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/jsundermeyer/xUbuntu_14.04/
We provide deb-files.
is libqt5* installed ? popplerqt5 ?
libqt5core is installed
poppler-qt5 and poppler-qt4 are / were installed
sry didn't see the amd64 subdir -.-
there should be more libqt5 libraries (gui, svg etc)
just posted something, but somehow it didn't appear here.
maybe there will be a double post ?
How ever, the problem persists with the qt4 version. (see video)
Here's another traceback from the qt4 version:
according the qt5lib packages: (maybe the command is not nice, but it is sufficient i guess)
maybe you should compile txs yourself and run it in a debugger.

Did you compile it in debug mode?
Start it with gdb to get a proper backtrace: gdb texstudio
Enter run, when it crashes enter bt
no feedback, try 2.10.4
I have this issue on Arch Linux with any version newer than 2.9.4 (including 2.10.4). Whenever I open a file TeXstudio crashes with this output:
