Not sure if this is a bug or an error from my side. When I compile tex file using pdflatex (run twice in a sequence), it always stops for the first round run. But if I stop compiling, the second round run of pdflatex compiling will start, and in the end it says the following:

Process started: "E:/Base/Editors/MikTex/miktex/bin/x64/pdflatex.exe"

Error: Command crashed: "E:/Base/Editors/MikTex/miktex/bin/x64/pdflatex.exe"

Process exited with error(s)

Process started: pdflatex.exe -shell-escape -synctex=1 -interaction=nonstopmode "ScatteringInNaTA".tex

Process exited normally

Process started: "E:/Base/Editors/MikTex/miktex/bin/x64/makeindex.exe" "ScatteringInNaTA".idx

This is makeindex, version 2.15 [MiKTeX 2.9 64-bit] (kpathsea + Thai support). Scanning input file ScatteringInNaTA.idx....done (36 entries accepted, 0 rejected). Sorting entries....done (195 comparisons). Generating output file ScatteringInNaTA.ind....done (75 lines written, 0 warnings). Output written in ScatteringInNaTA.ind. Transcript written in ScatteringInNaTA.ilg.

Process exited normally

does not look like a texstudio problem.
Try to start pdflatex from command line and see if the crash persists.

Sorry, I think I found it. It is caused by the default compiler setting. What I put in the configuration for the default compiler was directed to the location of the pdflatex file in which case I should use the default setting. pdflatex works in the command line (see attached). Please close the ticket, and thanks for your attention.
