My TeXnicCenter 1.0 RC1 crashes when I'm saving a file, or building the project (which also initiates an auto save).
This does not happen all the time and I cannot link it to any well defined activity I might be doing. It approximately hangs 1 out of 10 builds / saves - but I cannot reproduce the error on will, it (seems) completely random. The error states "Runtime Error" *. Sometimes I am able to restart TeXnicCenter, but most of the times it crashes right away again. The solution in these cases is to go to the task manager and forcibly terminate "latex32.exe"* then I can restart TeXnicCenter
I have tried it with the same software configuration, however under Windows XP and I have not noticed any of these problems, so my guess is not because of my project. As I am writing a major science book, this is becoming reaaaaallly annoying.
* cannot give more details, as right now I cannot force it to crash, like it does all the time :)
Operating system: Windows 7 Home, (English) for x64
Latex: Miktex 2.8
Computer: Lenovo laptop with Intel Core i3 M370 @ 2.4 GHz
Others: The project uses Bibtex, I am using no special editor for the Bibtex entries but simple notepad. Most of the times I am compiling to DVI, and using YAP to preview files. I am using Dropbox to backup files, but terminating the program does not get rid of the issue. I am using NOD32 as an antivirus program.

Follow up comment:
The error window states:
-----------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program C:\~path\TEXCNTR.EXE
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact....

The dump file Windows creates upon entering the Task manager is huge, about 173 megabytes so I can't and will not attach it here.

Running TeXnicCenter in Windows XP (SP3) compatibility mode does not help.

No ideas? Anyone?
You could try the TexnicCenter alpha 3 version.
Thanks for your report. We already fixed that bug. The changes will be in the next release.

I'm seeing this problem in TeXnicCenter version 2.02 Stable (64 bit) and Windows 8.1.
I save frequently (maybe every 2 to 5 minutes) using Ctrl-S shortcut.
Program is crashing very often but not always.

same problem
TeXnicCenter version 2.02 Stable (64 bit) and Windows 8.1 64bit
note: fortunately it saves the file before crashing, so the work won't get lost, but it's still annoying.

Same here, 2.02 Stable (64bit) and Windows 8.1 64bit. File saves, but it still crashes. Why isn't this fixed? How to reopen the issue?

Really annoying issue for an otherwise excellent editor.

Same here. It doesn't have to be saving. Just keeps crashing every few minutes. Windows 8, 2.02 stable 64 bit.

Same here. Manual Saving works fine, but the timed autosave crashes LaTex. Which is not only ironical, but extremely frustrating since I lost quite some progress due to that bug.

same here. Freezes very often when saving, building or on opening. Most of the time I just have to wait in between 30 seconds to 1 minute, sometimes it crashes.

I'm having exactly the same problem as described by others above. TexnicCenter crashes when saving (but does actually save the file before it crashes). Running 2.02 Stable (64 bit) release on Windows 10. It also used to do this when I was running the same version on Windows 8.1. A frustrating 'feature' of an otherwise superb piece of software.
