Streaming levels

Probably impossible with the current Quake BSP, and
more of a pet peeve, but loading times in games is a
right pain now days. It would be good (if possible) to be
able to use portals to link up two levels together
dynamically and seamlessly for uninterupted gameplay.
Even if it's something like Messiah's loading method
would do.

Well if the entire world was partitioned into an oct-tree
within which you embedded other spatial partitions
(obviously optimized for what needs to be rendered).
I figure you could dynamically load and unload nodes in the
background as needed, as long as they're sufficently small,
loading shouldn't interfere with performance too much -- at
least for single player.
