The TEI source contains 15 instances of "e-mail" and 50 of "email". We have an element <email> (not *<e-mail>), and the unhyphenated usage is more common these days. We should change all instances of "e-mail" to "email", and add the word to the House Style orthography list here:
http://www.tei-c.org/Activities/Council/Working/tcw24.xml#house-style-orthography
The Journal has just addressed the same issue, and will be moving in the same direction. Chicago currently prefers "e-mail", but we expect that will change in a future edition; even if it doesn't, our usage should reflect the growing consensus around "email" and the fact of our tag name.
Seems entirely reasonable to me. Go green!
A quick grep shows that only tagdocs for <channel>, <email>, and model.addressLike are affected : the unhyphenated form is used consistently throughout the chapter files.
Removed otiose hyphens and closed ticket at rev 12868
Reopening because the fix to the house orthography document has not been made. (It needs Java in the browser to use OpenCMS so it'll have to wait till I have access to a system that will do it).
Fixed the house style document, so closing the ticket.
