Comment: TEI does not supply any methods to refer to objects and therefore cannot describe their interrelations.

At TEI Council meeting 2013-04 we discussed this ticket and did not feel that the use of object was inappropriate, because (i) there is in fact a proposal for an "object" element, which we may well accept soon; (ii) the "relation" element can be used to express relationships between all sorts of items in a TEI document, including texts, manuscripts, even sections of transcription (as for example the SAWS project are using it). I have therefore clarified the language of this element description, at [r11898], to read, "describes any kind of relationship or linkage amongst a specified group of places, events, persons, objects or other items".
