Text: "We envisage three basic types of users and uses for these elements."
Comment: The purpose of many of the <person> subelements is only understandable on the background of the use of TEI to record spoken corpora, e.g. <age>, <language>, <socecStatus>.
Suggestion: Change "three" to "four" and add:
"The fourth type is the person wishing to record information about persons who have served as informants in the creation of spoken corpora."
Comment: Since most TEI users, as far as I can make out, are using <person> for the second purpose listed (if not for the fifth mentioned below), the elements designed for use with spoken corpora can appear puzzling, since their aim is to capture information at a specific point in time, viz. when the interview was made, not to describe the life of a person as a whole.
Comment: <person> is also used to record information about persons who have participated in the creation of a TEI document. This use is noted at p. 436, bottom.
Suggestion: Change "four" to "five" and add:
"The fifth type is the person registering information relating to those who have taken part in the creation of a TEI document."
