Yeah, I'm starting to use TCLAP and I am "searching" for setFlag()/setName() that would provide a very easy way to do this. I'll provide a patch but that'll only be useful if someone accepts it !

If the patch makes sense and looks good that should not be a problem. I can take a look. I'm not sure I quite understand the details you propose so maybe you want to expand a little bit before to avoid spending too much time on the patch (but that's up to you).
