Jim, Filed: 894561 & 894550 'Fraid I wasn't able to track down the buttons not appearing bug any further - I can't reproduce the problem outside of TkChat, even trying various combinations of wm withdraw, wm transient, wm overrideredirect etc. Really not sure what is going wrong. The other bug, I managed to narrow down a bit further - seems -cursor {} is ignored when configuring the widget in an event callback, for instance: pack [canvas .c] .c configure -cursor hand after 5000 [list .c configure -cursor {}] The cursor never changes from the "hand" cursor, whereas: .c configure -cursor hand .c configure -cursor {} and the widget is back to the default (arrow) cursor. With regards to a reference for what the {} cursor name should do: http://www.tcl.tk/man/tcl8.4/TkLib/ConfigWind.htm is apparently the most definitive guide (and hard to track down; thanks to Bruce Hartweg for finding it). If "None" is specified as the cursor name (presumably this equates to {} at the script level), then the widget should use the cursor of it's parent. Phew, hope this helps. Neil.
