My observations on this, fwiw: (i) no champion is going to step forward, unless you are both v. lucky and actually ask people who you think might help (people are simply too busy to do even the projects that they have already thought of, let alone someone else's projects, no matter how great) (ii) have you looked at the Win/Mac source code? Tcl/Tk source code is the most clearly written you'll ever come across -- with a bit of looking through public win/mac documentation (msdn.com, apple.com), if you had the inclination I'm sure you could get something that was close enough to correct that others might be able to clean up the rough spots on those platforms. There are helpful people on the mactcl mailing list who I'm sure would lend advice. (Some of whom are already considering changes to Tk's text drawing to support MacOS X's more advanced typesetting).
