TclTkAquaBI-8.4.1.0-Jaguar General comments: Easiest install of any Tcl/Tk distribution I've experienced. Tk under Aqua is simply beautiful. The Batteries Included approach is a very good idea. While I'm not a current extensions user per say, having them here makes it possible to at least see what I'm missing. Who ever came up with the original "Examples" contribution deserves major credit for inspiring many nubies to program with Tcl. I hadn't seen the examples since the first time I loaded them back around 1994 and they are still very impressive. Comments unique to Mac OS X (I'll be sending these to distribution maintainers): I expected to be able to run scripts with "#!/usr/bin/wish" at the top. (I also expected to be able to run Borne/Korn scripts with "#!/bin/sh" but that too doesn't work in OS X.) A few of the "example" scripts don't run in OS X. On in particular is the menu script. The browser script doesn't run since it attempts to start "Xedit" and I didn't expect that to run. r a y m on d p a u l c a l a n d e |
