David, It is better to get 8.4.1, and probably (given that we are still working on the code fairly actively) better to get it from cvs, rather than getting one of the made up tar files. I think for 8.4.0 you have to rename tcl8.4 to tcl, ditto for tk, but I don't quite remember. Anyway, 8.4.1 has a number of bug-fixes for Mac OS X that you probably want... If you are still having problems, send us the failure messages from the build and we might be able to help you. Without that there isn't much we can do...
