The R statistics packages (sometimes known as GNU S) exists both in a Carbon version and in a Darwin/X11 version. The Darwin/X11 version has the tcltk package, using tcl/tk with X11. I recently build a version of R which does not use X11 at all. It's main graphics device is quartz based (due to Stefano Iacus), and it uses AquaTk for the tcltk package. It almost works. Start R from Terminal, load the tcltk package, and run the demos -- they all draw fine in Aqua windows, but these cannot be made front windows. Clicking them gives the message SetFrontProcess failed,-606 in the R terminal, and obviously buttons, sliders etc cannot interact with the mouse. Does this ring a bell ? I use the latest version from sourceforge (not from CVS) for MacTcl. Where does the SetFrontProcess error message come from ? R ? Tcl/Tk ? the OS ? === Jan de Leeuw; Professor and Chair, UCLA Department of Statistics; US mail: 9432 Boelter Hall, Box 951554, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1554 phone (310)-825-9550; fax (310)-206-5658; email: de...@st... homepage: http://www.stat.ucla.edu/~deleeuw ======================================================== No matter where you go, there you are. --- Buckaroo Banzai http://www.stat.ucla.edu/~deleeuw/sounds/nomatter.au ======================================================== |
