Oh, one brief postscript to my earlier post.  The scheme as proposed
does not deal with the synchronous signals (SIGILL, SIGFPE, SIGSEGV,
SIGTRAP, SIGBUS, and SIGEMT) at all.

I don't care.  I think that the correct response to any of those
signals is 'Keel Over.'
