Category: 18. [text] Group: obsolete: 8.5a4 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Alaoui Youness (kakaroto) >Assigned to: Joe English (jenglish) Summary: Accented characters not appearing where they ought to Initial Comment: Hi, please read this forum thread for more detailed information : http://amsn.sourceforge.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1164 I will summarize it here : It seems that on Linux, when an application is 'frozen', by taking 100% cpu on some script, the keyboard events on a text widget make all characters that need the use of a deadkey appear as the last chars in the widget and they will all be the same as the last accented char entered. Quoting from the forum : a message like "¿Cómo estás?" would appear as "¿Cmo ests?áá". To test it, simply type in a wish shell : destroy .t pack [text .t] after 5000 { for { set i 0 } { $i < 100000 } { incr i } { puts test } } The loop limit depends on how long you want it to hang, use the 5sec grace time to set focus on the text widget and while it's hanging, type a sequence of normal chars interleaved with accented chars (using a deadkey). See the result. I was unable to reproduce it on Windows, but it was reported many times already and it is known to happen on Linux (FC5) with Tcl/Tk 8.4.12. I have no means to test it further. I hope it helps. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Joe English (jenglish) Date: 2008-03-04 09:02 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=68433 Originator: NO Other comments in related threads indicate that this might be related to UIM (an X input method). http://www.amsn-project.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1249 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2007-07-08 19:56 Message: Logged In: NO Happens with 8.5a6 too. (I'm Fibonacci from the aMSN forums). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Alaoui Youness (kakaroto) Date: 2006-07-04 11:28 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=686750 As you can see from the forum thread this bug originated from, it also happens with the latest CVS version of Tcl/TK (july 2006). I don't know if you would prefer the group to change from 8.4.13 to 8.5a4 or not.. as it happens in both of them. I just changed it, but I'd still like to see the fix retrofit in 8.4 if possible. Thanks, KaKaroTo ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Alaoui Youness (kakaroto) Date: 2006-06-20 22:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=686750 It was tested on the current stable (8.4.13) and it seems to reproduce again... I hope the user experiencing this issue will test it with 8.5 too. How about the Tcl/Tk team, any feedback you can give me on this issue ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=112997&aid=1505182&group_id=12997 |
