Category: None Group: development: 8.4.16 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Mats Bengtsson (matben) Assigned to: Daniel A. Steffen (das) Summary: Support on Mac OS X 10.2 Initial Comment: Perhaps it is time to officially drop support for Mac OS X 10.2. When I try running the one from the link below I get a segmentation fault. I did some gdb tracking before which is posted on the mactcl list. http://rutherglen.ics.mq.edu.au/~steffen/tcltk/TclTkAquaStandalone-8.4.16-rc0.dmg Mats ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Mats Bengtsson (matben) Date: 2007-09-12 15:51 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=108900 Originator: YES Some time ago I did some work on building on my 10.2 box and then running gdb, and then it didn't crash on the SpinLock anymore, or at least it crashed on some ATSUI code before that, if I remember correctly. At some point I gave it up, although it built OK on 10.2. I think I either posted you directly or via the tcl-mac list. Sorry for my bad memory. There should be gdb stack traces somewhere. Mats ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel A. Steffen (das) Date: 2007-09-11 10:03 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=90580 Originator: NO this is the crash in tclMacOSXNotify.c that has come up on tcl-mac before? if yes, as far as I recall, it only affects builds done on 10.4 and running on 10.2? i.e. builds done on 10.3 or 10.2 work correctly? nothing to do with 10.2 support as such then, but an issue with the weak-link support for OSSpinLockLock etc. in tclMacOSXNotify.c IMO. I don't think we came to a satisfactory conclusion when investigating this last time, I no longer have access to a machine capable of running 10.2, so if you can, please try to debug this further (but don't use the standalone build, it has no symbols). The main thing to look at would be the SpinLockLockInit() setup in tclMacOSXNotify.c, maybe this is not even being called on 10.2 (possibly due to a pthread_once problem)? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=110894&aid=1792183&group_id=10894 |
