Notifier Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 7 Submitted By: Andreas Kupries (andreas_kupries) Assigned to: Kevin B KENNY (kennykb) Summary: Undocumented public APIs, Notifier Initial Comment: The following public APIs of the tcl core are not documented Tcl_SetNotifier (generic/tclNotify.c) Tcl_ServiceModeHook (mac/tclMacNotify.c) Tcl_ServiceModeHook (unix/tclUnixNotfy.c) Tcl_ServiceModeHook (win/tclWinNotify.c) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Kevin B KENNY (kennykb) Date: 2003-04-14 17:11 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=99768 What we need is a TIP to make these APIs private and rename them to TclSetNotifier, etc. I can't imagine why they were exported to the public API in the first place. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: David Gravereaux (davygrvy) Date: 2001-12-14 05:53 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=7549 A few more note on Tcl_SetServiceMode() would be nice. Maybe it's me, but I just don't understand *Why* one would want to discard (at least on windows) windows messages as they arrive... I should test it more deeply for my own selfish understanding. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kevin B KENNY (kennykb) Date: 2001-04-09 12:45 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=99768 Oh $env(LC_DEITY), what a kludge. Tcl_SetNotifier goes and patches the Stubs table. Do we really want to export that? It's a special hack for the Plugin. I'd say we'd better clean it up before we expose it to ordinary users. There's no reason for user code ever to call Tcl_ServiceModeHook. Any objections to renaming it to TclServiceModeHook and moving it to tclInt.h? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=110894&aid=414933&group_id=10894 |
