When I try to open a file named
c:/.sipc/.upload_sip:xiaotaow@cs.columbia.edu_erlang.c
s.columbia.edu
in wish84, wish84 crashed under Windows XP and 2000.
But this filename works fine under Tcl8.4a1.

I can't reproduce this problem, at least not with the
current cvs head (8.4a4). Please provide a test script.
By 'open' do you mean 'set fd [open c:/.sipc/.....]'?

Since I can't reproduce this, I'll close it in a week or
two unless more evidence comes forward.

This appears to have been fixed in 8.4a4 since I can't
reproduce it, and the bug reporter hasn't come back with
any precise test case which might be able to shed more
    light.
