#559 9% CPU load without tracking

Hi all and possibly Aaron,
I use taskcoach-appimage-0.1.0-x86_64.AppImage on a Linux Ubuntu distribution.
Even without tracking a task, I see python2 runs at 9% CPU usage due to TaskCoach.
I've tried other 1.4.6 versions of TaskCoach and it was similar, even installing via PIP (was a nightmare).
Any suggestion as to what and where in TaskCoach's code induces this CPU load?
I wish we could track this one down because it sucks my laptop's battery.
Thanks!

I suspect this could be related to the size of my tsk file. I have been using TaskCoach for over a decade. My tsk file is 1.2 MB in size. I'm not sure how to easily reduce its size while preserving my task list.

I do not have this problem myself. I am running a directly built Task Coach using an older workaround and not the AppImage. Before investigating the code (and seeing if Jerome will reply at all), I have suspicion: the large .tsk file goes with a large .tsk.delta file perhaps? That gets generated as changes are made and is part of the method used to allow multiple Task Coach clients to edit the same file stored on a server. For a single user, it's irrelevant, but it isn't something you can turn off. It is safe to close Task Coach and then delete (or rename for ultimate caution) the delta file. Then, when Task Coach starts next, it will make a new delta file that will start smaller.

Please tell me if that resolves this. If not, we'll have to investigate further.

Hi, excited to tell you that https://github.com/taskcoach/taskcoach now has updated Python3 Task Coach packages for Ubuntu-based systems, you can try the AppImage, but I'm using the .deb options and everything is working for me. Give it a try and report bugs there, cheers!
