Hi,
I have not found the specific "enhancements requests or proposals" chapter.
My request (I have not found the feature) is to have the same capability for import than for export csv : choose the fields.
Currently when you export to csv format you can choose by a panel (need little enhancement himself, see separate request) the fields that you want to export.
The same for importation should be useful.
Best regards
Trebly
I explain one of my examples of use of this feature :
I use to list some task to perform (some times a lot, can be near one hundred) with a voice recorder (because I have no access to a keyboard).
The content is after converted to text : a csv file (using Dragon software).
The task listed have in common that only some fields are defined.
So depending of the "type" of tasks it should be useful to be able to select the defined fields of the csv which are to be imported into tak coach.
Because an import supposes that the csv contains all the fields in same order than exportation, I must create such a data file.
So, currently I must :
1- import first the csv resulting of the dictation to excel and after
2- using a macro, I copy the columns to a full fields page, export it to the csv which contains all fields and
3- import to task coach the csv.
Note : the most practical order of fields is not necessarily the native order of task coach, so to define and be able to memorize as "csv formats" the structure of the export or imported csv (declare the num of the column and format option - case of dates - time - into the csv) should be the best for the feature.
Hi, I'm sorry to say that right now, the development is basically stagnant. That doesn't mean it can't ever be resolved, but Task Coach needs to be overhauled to use newer libraries, Python3 and so on. The heavy codebase is quite dated. Until that is done (and we welcome any help with that or with recruiting people to help), feature improvements aren't likely.
I'm fine with leaving this request open here, but in the past (and continuing) feature requests were at https://taskcoach.uservoice.com
Task Coach is so powerful and has so much potential, I really hope we can somehow get it back up to being fully maintained and improved.
Hi! Happy to be announcing, all these years later, that Task Coach is now updated to Python3 and development is finally active again, thanks to new volunteers. The project has now moved to https://github.com/taskcoach/taskcoach
I'm using it myself, and things are working better than ever.
We'd love to have you test the updated program, and post any issues that arise there at GitHub. We won't be continuing with SourceForge, just clearing out old issues and letting people know about the move.
If you still want this feature, please open it as a GitHub issue.
Cheers
