If all you changed was the default values (through the Preferences dialog), simply erasing your TaskCoach.ini file will do the trick; it will be created again with the default values next time you launch Task Coach. Where to find it depends on your operating system; see https://answers.launchpad.net/taskcoach/+faq/1061

Actually I meant simply the taskfiles, as in the option eg "Save selected tasks to new taskfile". But I think I figured it out; this option is there so I can make different taskfiles for work, one for the household and one for the weekend for instance? I'll experiment a bit more ;-)

If you mean the XML schema, nope. The only documentation is the code :)
