Hi

I moved from "Swift to do list 9" to "Task coach 1.4.3" (I am using a portable version) and was happy there is an opensource alternative.

After I started to use "Task coach" I have seen that there is a problem with the drag & drop feature.
I don't know if it's a bug or not but it's not moving to where I want it to move.

I am trying to move a task/subtask to a different place.
I have also tried to change task priority but the task didn't move.

There are several drag-drop options in Task Coach. The manual-sort column lets you re-order by drag and drop, but you need to drag and drop in that column. If you drag and drop a task right onto another, it becomes a subtask. If you drag and drop just above or below another task, it becomes a prerequisite or dependent (depending on above or below dropping).

This is the only one that is working for me.
"If you drag and drop a task right onto another, it becomes a subtask"

The re-ordering is not working at any place.
When trying to move the subtask outside of it, it will not move.
Just when moving a subtask to a task then it will make it a subtask.

In order to re-order manually, you must be showing the Manual ordering column and make that column be chosen in the sort options (either in the menu or clicking at top of column. Otherwise, you're sorting by some other parameter (I sort my list by priority and show the priority column instead of using manual ordering)

It is much harder to do it than the other program but I have managed to do it.
    Thanks.

Hope to see this program get better and better.

I understand it's different from other programs, but what other programs offer the ability to switch back and forth between manual sorting and some other sorting?

I don't know about other programs (Just these 2).
The other program has both sorting at the same time and you can choose what to move and where in a smooth way without the need to do something special.

How can it let you sort wherever and also let you see some other particular sorting? That would be contradictory.

    If the order alphabetically is:

    • A
    • B
    • C

Then if you insert a D between A and B, you don't have alphabetic order any more. If you go to alphabetic, you'll lose your manual sorting. Does it remember to return to the manual sorting when you turn off alphabetic?

In Task Coach, if you set your manual sort via the manual column, you can switch back to that column to get back to that any time and switch to sorting by other columns any time you want those…

    Ahh...
Now I understand what you are talking about.
I didn't use it on any of both programs.
Now I have tried it and I guess swift does both at the same time and more.

After some time I have found how to do it in Task Coach.
(Also I don't know why the arrow has background of 2 colors after clicking it few times)

I also understand that both programs sort all the list alphabetically at same time and not specific sub list of the whole list.

I don't understand "swift does both at the same time and more". You can't have alphabetic order and manual order at the same time strictly, as those are two different orders. I'd suspect swift just forces everything to alphabetic sort and then you have to manually redo things from there, but maybe it's like Task Coach where you can switch back and forth quickly.

"it's like Task Coach where you can switch back and forth quickly".
    You are correct.
