No

Xubuntu 12.04 amd64, TC is installed from PPA.

In Release notes on 1.3.30 you say:

Dependencies changed:
On Linux, Task Coach does not depend on KDE any more, but it is recommended.

In version 1.3.29 (currently installed) I see:

Depends: python (>= 2.7), python-wxgtk2.8 (>= 2.8.9.2), python-wxversion, libxss1, ttf-dejavu, libavahi-compat-libdnssd1
Recommends: python-notify, libgnome2-0

And in version 1.3.30:

Recommends: python-notify, libgnome2-0, python-kde4, libavahi-compat-libdnssd1
Depends: python (>= 2.6), python-wxgtk2.8 (>= 2.8.9.2), python-wxversion, libxss1, ttf-dejavu

As I can see, APT installs recommended packages by default, so there are 122 new packages waiting to be installed on my Xubuntu box (KDE stuff and things it depends on). I'm not sure I understand how this libs can improve my TC experience.

Please, remove this recommendation from the package. Thanks!

    Then how will the package manager "know" that python-kde4 is recommended ? What's the rationale of this "Recommends" feature then ?

    I'm not sure, but maybe we could try "Suggests" instead of "Recommends"? See http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html

    Recommends
    This declares a strong, but not absolute, dependency.
    The Recommends field should list packages that would be found together with this one in all but unusual installations.

    Suggests
    This is used to declare that one package may be more useful with one or more others. Using this field tells the packaging system and the user that the listed packages are related to this one and can perhaps enhance its usefulness, but that installing this one without them is perfectly reasonable.

    Ah yes, this seems to do the trick. Thanks.

    A fix was made and checked into the source code repository of Task Coach. The fix will be part of the next release. You will get another notification when that release is available with the request to install the new release and confirm that your issue has indeed been fixed.

    If you like, you can download a recent build from http://www.fraca7.net/TaskCoach-packages/latest_bugfixes.py to test the fix.

    Because a fix has been made for this bug report, the priority of this report has been lowered to 1 and its resolution has been set to 'Fixed'.
    Thanks, Task Coach development team
