After changing some combination of the Task Appearance preferences, pressing the "OK" button does NOT close the Preferences dialog box and subsequently Task Coach gives an error that prevents it from re-launching. The ini files must be deleted in order to launch TaskCoach again.
To reproduce the bug: Launch the TaskCoach Preferences screen and select the Task Appearance tab. Change the colours and icons - I will try to include a file that shows exactly what I did. Press the OK command button. Normally, this closes the Preferences dialog. In this case, it does NOT close the dialog and you must close it by pressing Cancel or else by clicking the top-right corner. Now, if you try to create a new task, the New Task Dialog does not launch. Nor will the Task Edit dialog.
I am experiencing this same error with both the "stand-alone" version of TaskCoach AND the Portable.
I am experiencing it with both a brand-new file, and also with my own datafile which was migrated from an earlier version of TaskCoach (it was about a year old or so)
Hi, thanks for your diligent testing. Could you please try one more thing: download the latest bugfix release and tell us if the problem persists, see http://www.fraca7.net/TaskCoach-packages/latest_bugfixes.py
Thanks,
Aaron
Hi, I downloaded TaskCoach-1.3.22.5953-win32.exe and installed it, after removing the previous version of TaskCoach and deleting the ini files.
The problem IS persistent.
Thanks for confirming

If you like, you can download a recent build from http://www.fraca7.net/TaskCoach-packages/latest_bugfixes.py to test the fix.

Hi, it's many years later, and as I close this old resolved ticket, I'm excited to tell you that https://github.com/taskcoach/taskcoach now has updated Python3 Task Coach codebase! Packages are available for some common Linux systems and we can add more.
We'd love to have you test the updated program
Cheers
