No

New tasks should not only activate the subject area, but the text "New task" should be selected so that users can start typing the new subject right away and don't have to delete or select that text first.

Actually it should be the case except on Linux. Except that it happens on Linux but not on OS X. Windows is fine though. And the corresponding unit test passes on all platforms...

Hmm, well, my concern is on OS X then. I'll update the category to just OS X for this report.

My bad, the unit tests don't check the selection, only the focus. Still a bug.

This is NOT fixed. Tested on Linux and Mac 5579.

If I make a new task, it may start with the subject. But if I then go to category tab, choose a category and close, the next time I make a new task it starts on the category tab. This happens on both systems. It should be that the Description tab is selected and the subject is highlighted on both systems for new tasks (although I know there's some discussion of whether highlighting should happen on Linux, although I think it still should for new tasks) — subject should not be selected when editing existing tasks, but for new tasks it should. Anyway, not consistently working on either system currently.

This should be fixed in release 1.3.19.

This is NOT fixed. We discussed issues about how this should work on Linux (I think it should be the same as other systems, maybe with a preference if necessary to override, some disagreement on that), but that isn't the only matter.

On my Mac, w/ 1.3.19: made a new task, description tab shown but subject text was NOT highlighted. Moved to category tab and closed the editor. Made another new task. Now even this new task shows the category tab and not the description tab!

Basically, this is completely NOT fixed as far as I can tell.

Sorry to report this, but today I got back to having trouble with this again. On my Mac system, new tasks are starting with the categories tab instead of the description with highlighted subject.

    I've attached my .ini file
