(This is especially hurtful when editing dates of templates. The background tree of the template gets updated on every character entry, and the final result would be hilarious if it wasn't irksome already.)
My date settings is LC_TIME=en_DK.UTF-8, so the date format is YYYY-MM-DD . (The old bug of ignoring-env-vars-unless-a-localized-UI-is-chosen was never fixed, so I fix it every time I download a new version by adding a locale.setlocale(locale.LC_ALL,'') after the import locale of render.py)
I am not sure if there has been added code to make date entry “more clever”, or if it's the result of continuously updating the underlying task(s).
So I try to edit a date. In the following examples, think {} as the cursor, and anything included in between is a selection.
201{1}-10-07 → press 0 to make it 2010 → 0{}0201-10-07
{2011-10-07} → press backspace to enter new date → the date becomes disabled and you need to click the checkbox
2011-12-{} → press e.g. 2 for 25 → 2011-12-02{}
etc.
In the case of template adding, things are worse. I'm adding a template with subtasks, and I'd like to edit the due date to Xmas last year. Steps needed:
201{2}-01-09 → 1 → 1{}0201-01-09
... edits needed to turn 2012 into 2011 ...
2011-{0}1-09 → 1 → 2011-11-09 (it works! great)
2011-1{1}-09 → 2 → 22010-01-09 (no, it doesn't)
... bla bla ...
2010-12-{} → 2 → 2010-12-02
2010-12-{} → 25 → 2010-12-05
Sh!t. I want to cancel. How the frak do I cancel entering the template? Oh, I can't. I just delete the task, right? Let's enjoy the dates of the task and its subtasks before deleting:

Is avoiding OK and Cancel in dialogs something that pleases the majority of the users? If yes, then please close this bug and I'll get back to 1.2.31.
That would be issue 3064566:

A later report is:

The locale issue should be fixed, see https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3091934&group_id=130831&atid=719134 before you test it though.
Hi, we've made a completely new date-picker to fix the problems here. If you can, we'd appreciate if you would test it and see if it works for you. You can try the test version here:
http://www.fraca7.net/TaskCoach-packages/latest.py
Make sure to choose under "Experimental Features" and the appropriate thing for your system ".deb" for Ubuntu or Debian, for example.
Cheers,
Aaron
Task Coach now has a completely new date/time system so these issues are all irrelevant. Please try the latest version, you'll find it much better
Cheers
