Every public transit company offers a network map of its transit network.
The user should have the choice to select stations from such a station network map.
I imagine that the program has a (possibly online) list of pdfs(or any image file, jpg, png, etc). If the user selects to use a station network plan,
his current GPS position aids to select the correct plan. Then if the user taps on a certain point on the map the system checks whether or not he tapped on an area that represents a station and the corresponding address is loaded. To achieve this we need a set of shapes(probably rectangles) associated with each pdf which provide a mapping between pdf coordinates and the station(address, gps coordinates, name).
The difficult thing is to create this set for every pdf in an efficient manner.
I believe it would be reasonable to program a tool for that purpose that can display pdfs. If the developer then selects a rectangular area with his mouse the tool prompts the developer to input the station associated with this area. This way it should be relatively easy to add individual network maps.
