Windows System Information Gatherer (WinSIG) v1.2.17

** As of October 2011, I'm in the process of rewriting this tool to address a number of issues that I've found over time and to make some parts better. I'm not sure when it'll be done since I have limited free time. **

This tool aims to be a simple way to gather information from a system to be passed back to technical support. It consists of the application and an XML-based settings file. When deployed to a remote computer, any user with appropriate permissions can run the application to generate information important to troubleshooting in your enterprise environment.

The following information can currently be gathered:

  • Running processes
  • Processor
  • Network Adapters
  • Physical Memory
  • Fixed Disk Information
  • Operating System Information
  • Registry information
  • Log file entries
  • Output from commands
  • Custom WMI queries
  • File properties (version, size, etc.)
  • Service Information

System Requirements:

  • Windows
  • .Net 4.0 (If you download the source, you could set the target framework to .net 3 and get it running with minor modifications)

Future Plans: These are mostly held within feature request tickets; you can review these tickets to get an idea of the future of the application.

Next Update Release: The time frame for a new release is unknown right now but work is continuing on this project to expand its capabilities.

I do hope that if you've stumbled across this application and decided to give it a go that you will provide feedback, negative or positive, so that I can continue to make this product better and more towards the needs of the community.
