I have disabled the Synkron icon in my dock by using Dock Dodger, but this has a side effect of also removing the application's menu bar. The small icon in the menu bar is still available, and it would help if some of the options were placed under that menu, especially preferences.
What do you mean by "removing the application's menu bar"? There is only one menu bar in Mac OS X, which is shared by all apps and you simply can't remove it.

Synkron's textual menu items do not show up in the menu bar when you remove it from the dock using this utility. Try it, you'll see what I mean (dock dodger is free to try and the action can be undone). I was hoping to emulate the behavior of Quicksilver, though I would like to keep the menu bar icon on the right side.
OK, I tried it and I can see the problem.
Hopefully, I could add the feature you requested to the next release of Synkron.
