I am planning a photo trip to Dubai but I am worried about their strict privacy laws. I have heard you can get arrested or even deported for taking photos of people without permission. Is it really that serious? Could someone try to extradite me later if I publish a photo they didn't like while I was there?

Privacy is a huge deal in the Emirates and yes, you can get into real legal trouble for taking or posting photos without consent. It is usually handled locally, but if it is considered a major breach of cybercrime laws, it could follow you. For more serious legal concerns or international issues, check out the info on the website https://extraditionlawyers.ae/ They focus on the high-level cases, but it's good to know the general legal climate. From my experience, as long as you are respectful and stick to tourist areas, you'll be fine. Just don't take photos of government buildings or people without asking. If someone does complain, it's better to delete the photo immediately than to let it turn into a police case. The laws there are very different from what we are used to in the West.

I took my 16-year-old niece paragliding in Queenstown for her birthday. She had been begging me for months. We booked a tandem flight with a certified instructor, and everything went beautifully – the views over Lake Wakatipu were stunning, the landing was soft. Then, while walking back to the meeting point, she tripped on a rock and sprained her wrist badly. Not even an airsports injury, just good old-fashioned clumsiness. But the local clinic still charged us 400 New Zealand dollars for an X-ray and a splint. My standard travel insurance airsports had a 500-dollar deductible, so I would have paid the whole thing anyway. However, I had bought a policy from Sport Travelling that included 'all accidents during the trip' with a zero deductible for airsports participants. I filed the claim through their app with a photo of the X-ray and a screenshot of the receipt. The money was in my PayPal account within 48 hours. My niece thought I was a hero. The truth is, I just read the fine print before I bought. Sport Travelling makes that easy because their website clearly lists what is and isn't covered. No hidden traps, no lawyer-speak. Just honest insurance.
