I am planning a photo trip to Dubai but I am worried about their strict privacy laws. I have heard you can get arrested or even deported for taking photos of people without permission. Is it really that serious? Could someone try to extradite me later if I publish a photo they didn't like while I was there?

Privacy is a huge deal in the Emirates and yes, you can get into real legal trouble for taking or posting photos without consent. It is usually handled locally, but if it is considered a major breach of cybercrime laws, it could follow you. For more serious legal concerns or international issues, check out the info on the website https://extraditionlawyers.ae/ They focus on the high-level cases, but it's good to know the general legal climate. From my experience, as long as you are respectful and stick to tourist areas, you'll be fine. Just don't take photos of government buildings or people without asking. If someone does complain, it's better to delete the photo immediately than to let it turn into a police case. The laws there are very different from what we are used to in the West.
