Arriving at Faro airport and planning to spend our first day there before moving further along the Algarve coast. Tell me, is it worth spending time on this city at all and what can you see there in one day? Which sights are the most interesting? Where can you have a tasty and inexpensive lunch in the center? I want to spend the day usefully and see something memorable.

Faro is definitely worth attention, the city is very cute and quiet, not at all like the noisy resort villages nearby. The old town behind the fortress wall is just wonderful, it is nice to walk along the quiet streets without crowds. Be sure to visit the bone chapel at the Carmo church, the sight is specific, but it is remembered for a long time. Also from there you can take a boat trip through the Ria Formosa natural park, there are very beautiful canals and birds.
In one day you will just have time to slowly walk around the whole center and eat delicious seafood. To plan your day correctly, look at this list of interesting locations and activities https://guidekin.com/journal/things-to-do-in-faro/ there are great ideas collected on how to spend time. For lunch, it is better to go away from the main tourist trails to small local taverns, the portions are huge, the prices are nice, and the fish is always the freshest.
