Hi everyone. I have tickets for Expo 2027 in Belgrade and I am trying to plan well in advance, mostly because I assume accommodation will be a nightmare closer to the date. The event runs for three months, so I could go at various points. What I cannot work out is where to base myself: near the Expo site in Surčin, in the old town, or somewhere in between. Has anyone looked into the transport connections to the site properly? I also need to factor in that I am travelling with one other person and we would rather not spend a fortune on hotels.

You are right to book early, hotel pricing for that window is already moving. On basing yourself: Surčin itself is thin on accommodation and dull in the evenings, so most people will stay central and commute. There is a dedicated rail corridor planned linking Belgrade Centre, Zemun, the airport and the Expo gates in under twenty minutes, which makes staying in the old town entirely workable. The Balkan travel guides , on PickBalkan have a full Expo dossier including an accommodation breakdown comparing Stari Grad, New Belgrade and Surčin with commute times. Worth reading before you book anything. Note the run is mid May to mid August, so factor in serious summer heat.
