One idea... try to specify your server as IP address. If it work, 
then maybe problem is inside name resolving routines, what are 
different in Synapse. (Synapse using modern name resolving API, Indy 
not.)

If IP address working, then check if your server name is resolved by 
DNS only and is not resolved not by NetBios!
