    Hello!

I would like to start and thank you for an exceptional good application.

I have a problem with the value in the column ‘Days Inactive' are not shown for some reason. The script seams to get the right data from the file stored in .idlesince/

    Contents of file idlesince/10.245.15.28.idlesince

    Vl1 1176815647
    Fa0/8 1176815647
    Fa0/1 0
    Fa0/7 1176815647
    Vl500 0
    Gi0/1 0
    Fa0/4 0
    Fa0/5 1176815647
    Fa0/3 0
    Fa0/6 1176815647
    Fa0/2 0

It doesen’t seam to be an html print problem because the textmap file has the same problem

Part of contents in file text/10.245.15.28.map

    Fa0/6 600 n/a unknow # LABB Tech. Arch. 1

    I am runinf version 10.18 of swichmap and ‘Linux logadmin 2.6.17-11-server #2 SMP Thu Feb 1 19:53:33 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux’

    Any ideas?

    Regards

    Thomas

How long have you been running switchmap? It takes a while for them to show up. They will only show up if they are past the threshold specified in ThisSite.pm. Default is 60 days.

        Hello Lance,

The switch has been up for 41 days and I have lowered the value in ‘ThisSite.pm’ to 3 days just to verify this. I still see the white columns, without any counted days as I see in demo.

        Regards

          Thomas,

Switchmap calculates it based on time since it was added to the idlesince file. If you have only been querying that switch/port for less than your time in ThisSite.pm then you will now have it show up. How long has switchmap been scanning that Switch and that port?

he he ... let me say it this way, not long enough :)

I just waited for a couple of hours, because this was just a lab. But now I know where the problem is located so I can continue with the labs.

            Thank you for the help,

            Regards

              Thomas,

It is calculated from the FIRST time switchmap find that there is no MAC address on that port. Once there is a MAC address on that port it is considered active.

              Hope that helps.

      Hello Lance,

Thank you for the quick reply.

The switch has only been monitored for a couple of hours, I was under the impression that the swichmap application asked the switch for uptime (SNMP: sysUpTimeInstance) and compared it with (SNMP: ifLastChange) the value of the last change for the interface.

      As a mentioned before I do get some values in the idlesince/{file}

      Fa0/5 1176815647

What is the UNIX-timestamp calculated on? Is that the present timestamp since the ‘switchmap’ application was started? And if that is the case do you only update the file when the value I ‘0’ (Active).

      Regards
