P.S. I've added a fix to CVS for this problem. It's basically that container classes with no layout are defaulted to a 0,0 preferred size. I've changed it so that containers with no layout now get the peer to compute their preferred size if none has been set. This means your program now outputs a tabbed pane packed around a single button (just like Swing).
