This thing is pretty hokey all around. Selection is
strange in that it sometimes doesn't register a user's
click AND in that the highlighting only happens on the
thumbnail's text - which may not even be visible due to
scrolling.
The layout leaves much to be desired in that all
thumbnails should be centered horizontally into columns
- that is, the horizontal center of each thumbnail in a
column should form a straight line which represents the
center of the column. Vertical alignment for rows can
be done any number of ways, but bottom-alignment so
that the bottom line of the caption for each thumbnail
in a row should form a straight line, ragardless of the
image's size and shape.

Also, it may be possible to use a custom JTable to handle
all of these problems. I haven't looked into it seriously
yet, but I imagine something could be cooked up.
