I tried to comment on another thread about this subject, but for some reason it wouldn't let me. First, great job on the software nice tool. I would like to request the ability to switch out the reference line when creating a wall. The middle causes several problems as you put your home together:
1. Size - its difficult to get your rooms the right size unless you always remember to add half of your wall size to the length.
2. Intersecting or aligning walls - this is difficult as the middle line magnet does not seem to want to align correctly, It throws my lines off 1/2" one way or the other.

If i could create a room then have the walls snap together with other rooms that would work.

1 More item - Split walls, should split, they stick together

thank you again for a great product

Is this product still under active maintenance? I would assume the ability to draw a wall based on measurements taken inside the room (or outside—but not along the center line of the wall) to be the most fundamental feature of any floor plan software and should have been fixed in significantly less than ten years after being reported. Without that, you can’t even create a scale model of the building other that by manually editing the XML file, which is definitely not good UX. Except for some applications where scale is not important, all the other features become pretty much useless then.

Sorry I won't discuss again of this subject to which I answered in many other places, here and in the forum. And there are surely simpler solutions than editing the XML file!

Sorry if my frustration came through a bit more than it should have yesterday.

I have since found the Advanced Edit plugin on the forum, which alleviates most issues—still not a 100% solution but at least it lets me create a usable floor plan. I can draw a room, adjust the individual points of it (length of walls measured from inside and angles), then add walls around it and adjust them further.

While I haven’t read the discussions on the subject, I understand that this subject has come up a few times. I guess that would make it a candidate for the FAQ: briefly state the reason why certain editing features are not (and maybe never will be) found in Sweet Home 3D, and provide a pointer to the plugin.

You're right, I should add an entry in the FAQ about this.
