Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Support Requests item #851694, was opened at 2003-11-30 21:37 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=576522&aid=851694&group_id=85551 Category: Windows User Interface Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 8 Submitted By: Shawn Barton (shawnmb2k3) Assigned to: Shawn Barton (shawnmb2k3) Summary: Speed Innefficiency Initial Comment: The SWEBS webserver seems to be pretty inefficient in terms of sending speeds.... I tested the send speed using a 700 mb ISO file on two computers. One computer running a 10 / 100 mb card (lets call it "Computer A"), the other running a full-duplex gigabit card (~2000 mbps)(Lets call this one "Computer B"). When downloading the file from the SWEBS webserver..."Computer A" got an average of 1.5 mbps while "Computer B" got an average of 10.5 mbps. Via an FTP server both computers recieve at nearly their full network speeds (Computer A: 50 mbps average, Computer B: 1500 mbps Average), So I can safely say it has to be an ineffieciency in the server.
